I have tried using RectLabel (https://itunes.apple.com/app/rectlabe..) but whenever I hit the save button, each of the annotated images are then saved into an .xml file but not into a .txt file that I could use for cascade training. I couldn't compile OpenCV to use the opencv_annotation tool because my laptop is low on storage so I was looking for an alternative tool that could help me get the job done.Any help would be appreciated!

Installing OpenCV 3 With Python On Mac OS X Posted on October 9, 2015 by Prateek Joshi OpenCV is the world’s most popular computer vision library and it’s used extensively by researchers and developers around the world. I was having exactly the same issue reported by mjepson and tvdev. It seems there's a small configuration problem with Qt 4.7.4 (my QtCreator's about window says it's 4.7.4, but the version I installed was 4.8.1, though!) and gcc on the new Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

while it probably only takes a few lines of python to convert the xml file(s), --

i wonder, how you want to do the actual training then, since it requires the
opencv_createsamples
and the opencv_traincascade
tools.then, sidenote: the arcane haarcascades are 'on the way out', the tools to build them are no more part of recent opencv, you probably should 'switch ideas', and look into dnn learning to detect objects
Installing OpenCV has never been easy and always required a lot of careful usage of the command line to build from source. This was especially painful when working with a Raspberry Pi as building and installing OpenCV took a lot of time on the RPi, especially on the older models. Luckily this has changed very recently as it is now possible to install OpenCV with pip!
Below I guide you through the basic steps that I think are necessary to get opencv to work nicely on Mac, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi. If you want more background information, see the excellent article by Adrian Rosebrock from PyImageSearch.com.
Pip is the main package manager for python that we will also use to install opencv. Pip should already be installed on your system (see here), but if it’s not, we can install it with wget. Open a Terminal window and enter:
wget https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py
Now to install pip for Python 3 enter:
Opencv For Mac Os
sudo python3 get-pip.py
Or if you are still working with Python 2.7, simply enter:
![Opencv Opencv](/uploads/1/3/4/0/134054760/706855461.png)
sudo python get-pip.py
Next, and for the Raspberry Pi only, we need to install some additional packages. Make sure apt-get is fully up to date by entering the following in Terminal:
Vmix for mac. Receive multiple channels of video and audio from any NDI compatible device or PC on the network. .
sudo apt-get update
Opencv Framework For Mac
Now install the prerequisites:
sudo apt-get install libhdf5-dev libhdf5-serial-dev
sudo apt-get install libqtwebkit4 libqt4-test
sudo apt-get install libatlas-base-dev libjasper-dev libqtgui4 python3-pyqt5
Finally, we can enter a wonderfully simple command to install opencv:
sudo pip install opencv-contrib-python
For those of you also used to installing OpenCV manually I am sure you will be as happy as I am! Now let’s just make sure that OpenCV is working. Open a terminal window and enter
python3
to start Python. Now to make sure you have installed OpenCV correctly enter:import cv2
cv2.__version__
Your terminal window should look like:
2 4 6 | Python3.5.3(default,Sep272018,17:25:39) Type'help','copyright','credits'or'license'formore information. >>>cv2.__version__ |

Update 1: If you are using Python 2.7 and get an error message such as Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement opencv-contrib-python (from versions: ) No matching distribution found for opencv-contrib-python, a quick solution is to not use pip but apt-get instead:
