On this post I wrote a client for OCS/Lync. Now, Microsoft released a version specifically design for Lync server features called âLync for Macâ. I think this name choice is because how much it looks like âLync âfor Windowsââ, and itâs really impressive how the user experience looks like in both platforms. May 10, 2017 Microsoft Lync is the new rich client for Lync users on the Mac platform and offers integrated functionality for instant messaging, presence, conferencing and voice. Lync for Mac is designed to work with both Lync Server 2010 and Lync Online to help you: Control communication costs; Improve user productivity. I use Lync for Mac 2011 (14.0.7) on Mavericks every day with Lync Online/Office 365 and that works for me.
When the Microsoft Exchange 2013 Unified Contact Store is deployed for Lync Server 2013, and its is enabled for a user, the Lync 2010 and Lync for Mac 2011 clients do not understand where to update or save changes. As a result, users who are enabled for the Unified Contact Store cannot change their contacts list from Lync 2010 and Lync for Mac. Many of the customers I work with are currently making their way through an Office 365 technical pilot that needs to include Mac OS X machines as well as various versions of Windows. The Windows stuff seems fairly well documented and since we now have a GA release of Lync 2011 for Mac OS X.
